Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient

The active pharmaceutical ingredient contained in Indocap Pills is Indomethacin.

What Is Indocap Used For:

Indocap is used for treating moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It is used to treat gout or certain types of bursitis and tendonitis. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Indocap Capsules – Dosage

Use Indocap as directed by your doctor. Adverse reactions seem to correlate with the size of the dose of Indocap in most patients. Hence, every effort should be made to determine the smallest effective dosage for the individual patient. Indocap should not normally be prescribed for pediatric patients of age 14 years and below.

  • Take Indocap by mouth with food. This may not lower the risk of stomach or bowel problems (eg, bleeding, ulcers). Talk with your doctor if you have persistent stomach upset.
  • Take Indocap with a full glass of water (8 oz/240 mL) as directed by your doctor.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Indocap .

Indomethacin (Indocap Capsules) – Overdosage Symptoms And Treatment

The following symptoms may be observed when an individual takes an over dose of Indomethacin: nausea, vomiting, intense headache, dizziness, mental confusion, disorientation, or lethargy. Reports of paresthesias, numbness, and convulsions have also been recorded.
Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. In case the ingestion is recent the stomach should be emptied as quickly as possible. If vomiting has not occurred spontaneously, the patient should be induced to vomit. In case the patient is unable to vomit, gastric lavage should be performed. As soon as the stomach has been emptied, 25 or 50 g of activated charcoal may be given.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Indocap is an NSAID. Exactly how it works is not known. It may block certain substances in the body that are linked to inflammation. NSAIDs treat the symptoms of pain and inflammation. They do not treat the disease that causes those symptoms.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Indocap and you are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
